THE DOS AND DON’TS OF JOB INTERVIEW MAKEUP

When it comes to applying for a job, appearances matter, and in a job interview, you want to be at your best. The last thing you want to be worrying about is your makeup situation. There’s a very thin line between looking overdone and like you haven’t put any effort in and most of the time it’s better to blend in than to stand out by overdoing your makeup. The principle is to look the part, because if you do, you’ll also feel more confident — a key factor in landing the job.
So what are the makeup dos and don’ts? Don’t worry! We’re here to the rescue with many tips on what you should and shouldn’t do.
Dos
- Research the “vibe” of the company you’re interviewing for
- Get a good night’s rest and drink plenty of water the day before
- Give yourself plenty of time to get ready
- When you’re doing your makeup, think soft and natural
- Choose shades within a close range of your skin tone
- Rely on products you know and love
- Focus on the eyes
- Try pencil eyeliner for a softer look
- Wear a waterproof, natural-looking mascara
- Your lipstick must be applied with care. Bare lips would be better than blotchy lipstick or smudged lip liner
- Mineral powder is the antidote to a nervous sheen
- Choose natural tones for your eyeshadow
- Groom your eyebrows
- Apply some blush
- Pack a powder in your bag
- Manicured nails are a necessity
- Go for bright shades on your nail
- Keep hair clean and out of your face
Don’ts
- Your interview makeup shouldn’t be loud or distracting
- Skip the false eyelashes
- Avoid clumpy mascara
- Forget about the crazy eyeshadow
- Don’t overdo the blusher
- Don’t wear heavy perfume
- Don’t test out new beauty products
- Don’t do your makeup while you have your interview outfit on
- Don’t put liquid eyeliner
- Don’t put a lip gloss
